COVID-19 Update As Of August 24: New Cases Of 19,106, Recovered Adds 35,082 Cases
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) released the latest additional positive cases of COVID-19 as of today. A total of 185,852 specimens were examined with the result that there were 19,106 new positive cases of COVID-19.
"The total accumulation of positive cases since COVID-19 was discovered in Indonesia has reached 4,008,166 people and active cases are 273,750," as quoted from Ministry of Health data, Tuesday, August 24.
Today's recovered cases increased by 35,082 cases, bringing the total to 3,606,164 recovered people. Then, positive confirmed cases who died increased by 1,038 people and a total of 128,252 people.
The province with the most new cases was in West Java with 5,255 cases and a total of 675,840 cases. Followed by East Java which has 1,700 new cases with a total of 375,165 cases. Central Java has 1,242 new cases and a total of 464,219 cases. Then, North Sumatra has 1,135 new cases and a total of 90,717 cases.
The province with the most recovered cases today belongs to West Java with an additional 14,525 recovered cases. Followed by East Java with an increase of 3,313 recovered cases, North Sumatra with an additional 1,944 recovered cases, and DI Yogyakarta with an additional 1,723 recovered cases.
No province has reported no new cases as of today. In addition, the number of specimens that have been examined using RT-PCR, TCM, and antigens reached 30,870,419.
"Positive results per number of specimens examined or this week's positivity rate of 17.30 percent," he wrote.
The number of people suspected of contracting COVID-19 or who are currently categorized as suspected cases, was recorded at 260,434 people. Currently, 34 provinces have had cases of COVID-19.
To date, 58,468,810 people have received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination and 32,640,998 people have received the second dose of vaccination. Meanwhile, the target for vaccination in Indonesia is 208,265,720 people.
