Due To COVID-19, The Target Of 146 Km Of Sidewalk Revitalization In Jakarta Only Realized For 4 Km

JAKARTA - Head of the DKI Highways Agency Hari Nugroho admitted that the construction of sidewalk revitalization in Jakarta has been hampered since 2020. Hari explained that in 2020, the DKI Provincial Government only realized 2.73 percent of the completion target.

"The target for sidewalk revitalization in 2020 is 146 kilometers. Only 4 kilometers have been realized, including the construction of transit-oriented development (TOD) of 4 stations", Hari said on Monday, August 23.

Hari said that the delay in pavement revitalization was due to the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic. The budget for the sidewalk revitalization project in 2020 must be sacrificed to be refocused as a budget for dealing with the pandemic.

"The IDR 1.1 trillion budget to build the pedestrian area at that time was subject to refocusing, the budget automatically disappeared. So, from IDR 1.1 trillion it only leaves less than IDR 20 billion", said Hari.

From the limited budget, the DKI Provincial Government finally chose the construction of the TOD area which integrates KRL, MRT, Transjakarta, to Jaklingko stations.

"Finally, we agreed at that time, it means that what we will build infrastructure for is Tanah Abang Station, Juanda Station, Senen Station, and the Dukuh Atas TOD area".

Furthermore, the DKI Provincial Government is also continuing to revitalize the sidewalks in 2021 and 2022. This year, said Hari, 46 kilometers of sidewalks have been mapped. Then, DKI targets the continuation of the 72-kilometer sidewalk revitalization.

"The construction of the sidewalk in 2021 is almost 46 kilometers. Hopefully, it will be realized later because it has been blocked. If 2022 is a little more, we are targeting 72 kilometers", he explained.
