Issues Withdrew To 2027, House Of Representatives Commission II: Elections Agree To Be Held In 2024

JAKARTA - Member of Commission II of the DPR RI, Mardani Ali Sera, emphasized that the General Elections Commission (KPU), Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu), the Ministry of Home Affairs, and Commission II of the DPR have made a final agreement regarding the implementation of the legislative, presidential and simultaneous elections.

"February 2024 the legislative and presidential elections will be held simultaneously. And in November 2024, local elections will be held simultaneously," said Mardani, Monday, August 23.

This was said by Mardani in response to the issue of the postponement of the 2024 Election to 2027. According to Mardani, the resignation would only make people's rights neglected and undemocratic.

In addition, he said, there was also an extension of the term of office of the executive/judicial in violation of the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia. Because, it has been determined that the term of office of power is only 5 years.

"A bad precedent for our democracy because a healthy democracy has a circulation of power every 5 years and involves the people," said the chairman of the PKS DPP.

Therefore, the DKI Jakarta legislator believes that the Indonesian people need to reject the extension of the presidential term. Except, he said, the regulation does have legal protection.

“PKS will be istiqomah to maintain every 5 years. We will carry out leadership circulation, only two presidential terms are enough,” said Mardani.
