Police Unload Sale Of Counterfeit Oxygen Cylinders In Surabaya, Starting From Suspicion Of Buyers Whose Parents Are Getting Worse
SURABAYA - The team from the Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation of the East Java Police arrested one person who made and sold fake oxygen cylinders to the public.
The perpetrator with the initials NW (52) is a resident of Simorejo Street, Simomulyo District, Surabaya.
"This suspect has been carrying out his actions since June 2021, using CV. Surya Artha Kencana which is located at Simorejo Timur I Street No. 85 Surabaya", said the East Java Police Chief, Inspector General Nico Afinta, at the East Java Police Headquarters, Wednesday, August 18.
Nico explained that the arrest of the perpetrator began when the police received a report from the victim with the initials WD. He bought an oxygen cylinder measuring 1 M3 for suspect NW through social media on July 27, 2021, for his parents who were exposed to COVID-19.
"The victim bought it through social media, which was marketed by the perpetrator for IDR 4 million for (2 tubes and the regulator). After the victim bought the tube, the health of the victim's parents did not improve, it got worse", he said.
The victim was suspicious because the tube had a red base color, and the shape was the same as a light fire extinguisher. So they reported the incident to the police.
Based on the report from the victim, the police then conducted an investigation and search conducted on the CV. Surya Artha Kencana, on August 12. CV is engaged in filling fire extinguishers, and Repackaging or Modify, the production of fire extinguishers.
"From the search carried out by the police, it was found that CV. Surya Artha Kencana is producing or making oxygen cylinders", Nico said.

Meanwhile, the suspect was charged with Article 197 of the Health Law No. 36 of 2009 with a penalty of 15 years in prison. The evidence that was successfully secured included 800 fire extinguishers and diving tubes, 4 6 M3 size tubes containing Oxygen, 9 empty 6 m3 tubes.
Then the evidence was 43 empty white 1 M3 tubes, 20 white empty M3 tubes, 3 white empty 1 M3 tubes.
Then 15 pieces of tube feet, 1 bundle of electric welding carbide, 1 welding machine, 1 bundle of stickers labeled "Oxygen Medical Grade" tube, 6 pieces of proof of payment for oxygen filling to CWMS.
