Export Performance In July 2021 Decreased By 4.53 Percent, BPS: This Is A Seasonal Factor Due To The Number Of Holidays
JAKARTA - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) noted that exports in July 2021 decreased by 4.53 month to month (mtm) compared to June 2021. The export value obtained was only at 17.70 billion US dollars.
Head of BPS Margo Yuwono explained that the decline in exports in July occurred because oil and gas exports were only 19.55 percent. Meanwhile, non-oil and gas exports fell 3.45 percent.
"Meanwhile, if we look at year on year (yoy) we compare exports in July 2021, if we compare them with July 2020, exports increased quite significantly, by 29.32 percent," he said in a virtual press conference in Jakarta, Wednesday, August 18.
Margo said that from 2019 to 2021 exports continued to experience a positive trend. During that period, oil and gas exports increased by 50.08 percent. Meanwhile, non-oil and gas exports rose significantly by 28.25 percent.
"This is the condition of our exports in July 2021, both compared to 2019 and 2020," he explained.
Margo explained that the cause of the decline in exports in July 2021 was seasonal factors. Where there was a fairly large increase in exports in July because in May exports decreased due to the 2021 Eid al-Fitr holiday.
When viewed from the sector, Margo explained, non-oil and gas exports are divided into three categories, namely agriculture, processing or manufacturing and mining industries. All of these sectors experienced a decline on a monthly basis.
"For agriculture month to month it fell 12.08 percent, the processing industry fell 3.63 percent, mining and others fell 1.65 percent. This July, the agricultural sector only experienced exports of 0.29 billion US dollars," he said.
