210 Corrupt Prisoners Get Remission On The 76th Independence Day Of The Republic Of Indonesia, Four Of Them Are Free Immediately
JAKARTA - A total of 134,430 prisoners and children received remission on the 76th Indonesian Independence Day. Of these, 2,491 people were immediately released, including four convicts of corruption crimes.
"We need to report the granting of general remission in 2021 to the proposed inmates of 134,430 people. Where RU I or partial reduction is 131,939 people and RU II or immediately released, namely 2,491 people," said Director General of PAS Reynhard Silitonga in an online press conference, Tuesday, August 17th.
He then detailed the prisoners and the children who were given remission from various criminal acts. For the crime of terrorism, there were 42 prisoners who were declared to have received a reduced sentence and 8 prisoners were free.
Meanwhile, for corruption crimes, there were 210 inmates who received a reduced sentence and 4 prisoners were immediately free to breathe fresh air.
In addition, remissions in the form of reduced detention periods were also given to convicts for the crime of money laundering as many as 28 convicts, 25 inmates for illegal logging, and other crimes.
Previously, Minister of Law and Human Rights Yasonna Laoly congratulated the 134,430 convicts and children who received remission on this 76th Indonesian Independence Day. He advised the inmates to show better behavior.
"I have a message, show a better attitude and behavior in following the stages, processes, activities of the coaching program in the future," Yasonna said as quoted from his written statement, Tuesday, August 17.
Meanwhile for the inmates who were immediately released, the PDI-P politician advised them to become better individuals and spend time with their families safely.
"Be a good human being. Live in good social values, obey the rules. Start actively participating to continue the struggle of life, life, and livelihood as a citizen," said Yasonna.
