The Following Is The Contents Of The Text Of The Proclamation That Is Usually Read During The Independence Commemoration Ceremony Of The Republic Of Indonesia
JAKARTA - Every Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia on August 17, the text of the proclamation of independence will be read out.
Quoted from the cultural heritage page.kemdibud.go.id, the following is the text of the proclamation.
"We, the Indonesian people, hereby declare the independence of Indonesia.
Matters concerning the transfer of power, etc., are carried out in a careful manner and in the shortest possible time.
Djakarta, day 17 boelan 8 tahoen 05
On behalf of the Indonesian people
Soekarno/Hatta."
This text is the result of Soekarno's handwritten manuscript which was approved by the participants of the proclamation formulation session at Soekarno's suggestion.
The text was signed at Rear Admiral Tadashi Maeda's residence which is now the Proclamation Manuscript Formulation Museum located at Jalan Imam Bonjol Number 1, Central Jakarta
The text is slightly different from Soekarno's handwritten manuscript on August 17, 1945 in the early hours of the morning which was kept by Burhanuddin Muhammad Diah, which is now stored in the Indonesian National Archives, Jakarta.
The differences relate to:
a. The word "things" in the second paragraph of the first line is changed to "things";
b. The word "accurate" in the second paragraph of the second line is changed to "tempo";
d. Writing the date and month "Djakarta 17-08-05" to "Djakarta, day 17 boelan 8 tahoen 05"; and
e. The sentence "representatives of the Indonesian nation" becomes "On behalf of the Indonesian nation".
On the day of the Proclamation of Independence this text was read by Soekarno accompanied by Mohammad Hatta on Friday at 10:00 in the front porch of Soekarno's house, Jalan Pegangsaan Timur Number 56, Djakarta (now Jalan Proklamasi Number 5, Central Jakarta). After reading the proclamation, the red-and-white heritage flag was flown for the first time which was witnessed by the public in Jakarta.
