Opening Session Period, Puan Maharani Targets DPR To Speed Up Completion Of 7 Bills, Personal Data Protection Included

JAKARTA - The chairman of the DPR RI, Puan Maharani, stated that the DPR will focus on completing the first level discussion of a number of bills. He targets the DPR to complete the completion of 7 bills in the First Session Period of the 2021-2022 Session Year.

Puan emphasized that the DPR has a high commitment to ensuring that the state's tasks can continue to run well, even in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"In carrying out the legislative function, during this session, the Indonesian House of Representatives will focus on completing a number of discussions of bills at the first level with the government," said Puan at the Opening Plenary Session of the First Session of the DPR for the 2021-2022 Session Year at the Nusantara Building, Parliament Complex, Senayan. , Jakarta, Monday, August 16.

The 7 bills in question include the Draft Law on Personal Data Protection, the Draft Law on Disaster Management, the Draft Law on the Fifth Amendment to Law Number 6 of 1983 concerning General Provisions and Tax Procedures.

Then the Bill on Financial Relations between the Central Government and Regional Governments, the Draft Law on Roads, the Draft Law on Village-Owned Enterprises, and the Draft Law on the National Sports System.

"In addition, the DPR RI together with the Government will prepare for the discussion of other bills that have become a joint commitment, the DPR RI and the Government, in the priority National Legislation Program (Prolegnas) in 2021," said Puan.

Puan said the performance of the national legislation program was a collective work that was pursued through joint discussions between the DPR RI and the Government.

Therefore, the Chairperson of the PDIP DPP requested that this matter be a joint concern between the DPR RI and the Government in achieving the Prolegnas target.

"The DPR RI has a high commitment in completing the National Legislation Program to meet national legal needs and in supporting state administration," said Puan.

Puan also explained that the Indonesian House of Representatives would focus on a number of things outside of handling the COVID-19 pandemic related to the supervisory function of the Indonesian House of Representatives during this session.

First, regarding the National Defense Strategy and Policy for the Year 2020-2024. Second, regarding the concept and design of the 2024 Simultaneous Elections and the Election of Governors and Deputy Governors, Regents and Deputy Regents, Mayors and Deputy Mayors Simultaneously in 2024.

Third, supervision of the residence permit and movement of foreigners in Indonesia in preventing the spread of COVID-19.

“Supervision of food availability and stabilization of food prices. Supervision of the use of Village Funds. Supervision of the Implementation of State Finances in the Implementation of Government Policies,” explained Puan.

The DPR, continued Puan, will also supervise Drug Administration and Medical Device Management, supervise and assist the distribution of social assistance to make it more effective and targeted. As well as supervision of the 1 million KDP teacher program in 2021 so that the problem of teacher shortages and equity at every level can be resolved.

Furthermore, monitoring the performance of monetary policy implementation and financial services sector policies in the National Economic Recovery program. On that occasion, Puan also mentioned the violence committed by TNI personnel against Papuans some time ago.
