'Jokowi 404: Not Found' Mural Maker Hunted By Police, PKS: Don't Be Punished, Invite Dialogue
JAKARTA - Police are hunting for the creator of a mural of President Joko Widodo that reads '404: Not Found'. Because the mural maker tarnished the national symbol.
PKS DPP chairman Mardani Ali Sera asked the police not to be reactive and immediately hunt down the residents who made the mural. According to him, mural is a creative expression.
"Murals are creative expressions. Education and literacy are all. Creativity sometimes touches sensitive things and it depends on the interpretation. Just be nice," he said when contacted by VOI, Sunday, August 15.
According to Mardani, mural makers should be invited to dialogue and educated, not punished. "Creative children should not be punished, but invited to dialogue," he said.
Moreover, said Mardani, in the mural there is no writing that refers to President Jokowi. So it doesn't need to be taken seriously.
"You don't have to take it too seriously and prove it with hard work, prove it with the decreasing COVID-19, prove that social assistance is right on target and there is no corruption," he said. For your information, the hashtag #Jokowi404NotFound became a trending topic on Twitter, Saturday, August 14 . More than 14,000 netizens have tweeted the word.
The hashtag came from a mural image which was later removed by officials because it was deemed to have insulted the national symbol. There are many questions about this mural, this is not the first time. Previously there were a number of murals that were also viral and then removed by officers.
One of them is a mural with a picture of two characters and the words, 'Forced Health in a Sick Country'.
