Police: So Far There Has Been No Demonstration Against Luhut In Malang City
JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Pandjaitan is scheduled to come to Malang to inspect integrated isolation sites and implement mass vaccines, Friday, August 13.
A few days earlier, leaflets circulated in the name of GERAM Malang inviting a demonstration against Luhut's arrival. The notification letter for the action, which is planned to be carried out at the Simpang Empat Kayu Tangan Heritage or Jalan Basuki Rahmat, Malang City.
Malang City Police Chief AKBP Budi Hermanto said, so far, there has been no such action in Malang. However, the police will continue to provide security at the location Luhut will attend.
"So far, there has been no action, sir. But we are still preparing security both on the route and at the locations visited," said Budi when contacted by VOI, Friday, August 13.
The police are investigating the leaflets and open communication with GERAM to find out its intent and purpose. Budi added that the police also opened hearings regarding this matter.
"We investigated the leaflet and communicated with the GERAM alliance the intent and purpose, so that only the Malang city police could hear it," he added.
Separately, the Spokesperson for the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs, Jodi Mahardi, also said that the event would continue and there would be no demonstrations like the one in the leaflet.
He added that this series of agendas was also attended by a number of officials, including senior military and police officers. In Malang, Luhut will attend a review of several integrated isolation locations, a vaccination review, a field hospital review, and a coordination meeting on the handling of COVID-19 in Malang Raya.
"There is no demonstration, Mas. The agenda is running smoothly," he said when contacted by VOI.
