Lawyers Protest Police Plan To Examine Rizieq Shihab To Complete Munarman's File: It's Too Far To Get There

JAKARTA - Munarman's attorney, Aziz Yanuar, responded to the Police's plan to examine Rizieq Shihab to complete the investigation file. He said it was too much.

"Yes, I think it's too far to be carried there (Rizieq's examination)," said Aziz Yanuar to reporters, Thursday, August 12.

Aziz said that Rizieq Shihab and Munarman had a similar ideology regarding acts of terrorism. Both strongly reject all acts of terrorism in the name of Islam.

"What is clear is that Habib Rizieq is the same as Mr. Munarman, that is clear. He strongly agrees with Mr. Munarman forbidding acts of terror," said Aziz.

However, when asked about whether or not the Densus 88 investigators had communicated with lawyers Rizieq and Munarman about the planned investigation, Aziz was reluctant to answer.

"I can't respond yet," said Aziz.

As previously reported, the National Police will examine Rizieq Shihab and several other witnesses to complete the investigation file for the alleged terrorism case with the suspect Munarman. The examination was carried out because the investigation file was considered incomplete.

"The task of the investigator is to fulfill the P19, especially material evidence, including the examination of additional witnesses, namely the examination of HRS, SL, and HU. As well as several other witnesses who have been detained at the Cikeas terrorist detention center," said the Head of the Division. The Public Relations Division of the National Police, Kombes Ahmad Ramadhan, told reporters on Monday, July 12.

The examination of Rizieq Shihab and other witnesses was based on instructions from the research prosecutor who assessed that there were several shortcomings in the investigation file.

This is because the case file which was handed over on June 7 is considered incomplete in a formal and material manner. Therefore, there needs to be improvement.
