Indonesian League Officially Launched Today, Is This The Value Of The BRI Sponsor Contract?
JAKARTA - PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB) plans to launch the title, sponsor, and official broadcaster of Liga 1 for the 2021/2022 season this afternoon. The information was conveyed by the organizer of the national professional football competition through the official Twitter account @pt_lib.
"Don't miss launching the title, sponsor and official broadcaster of Liga 1 2021/2022," said PT Liga Indonesia Baru as quoted on Thursday, August 12.
Investigate a calibaration, PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia Tbk. (BRI) is rumored to be the main sponsor of the Indonesian League this year. Indeed, this is not the first time that financial services institutions have become important sponsors of the biggest sporting event in the country.
It was noted that Bank Mandiri had been the main supporter of the national highest football competition in the period 1999 to 2004. Then, there was also PT Bank QNB Indonesia Tbk. who became a sponsor in the 2015/2016 season ago. But unfortunately, the competition was stopped because the government froze PSSI.
So, what about BRI this season? How much is the total sponsorship fund disbursed by the largest banking institution in Indonesia to support this national football celebration?
To note, sponsorship budgets and sports activity support from banking institutions are part of the corporate social responsibility (CSR) fund. Well, these CSR funds are included in other costs in the financial statements.
For the last season of Bank Mandiri supporting the Indonesian League, namely 2004, the other value was recorded at Rp645 billion. This amount is less than the 2003 period which amounted to Rp807 billion. Allegedly, the drop in value can not be separated from the competition which only leaves half a season because it has been running since the previous year.
One thing to keep in mind is that this figure is not only a representation of the value of the Indonesian League sponsorship. In its report, Bank Mandiri also explained that the company also supported the chess championship, sponsored the Thomas and Uber badminton teams, sponsored the 2004 Palembang PON, and others.
Then for the 2005 Indonesian League which was donated by QNB, the editors have not been able to dig deeper into the information regarding the amount of the budget provided by the foreign financial institution. Given, at that time PSSI was plagued with internal problems and the competition was frozen in the middle of the road. Thus, the clarity about the value of sponsors is very minimal.
Then, in football competitions in recent years, Gojek and Traveloka are known to be the main sponsors for the 2017/2018 season. Meanwhile, the amount of the sponsorship contract was revealed by the General Chairperson of PSSI at that time, namely Edy Rahmayadi.
"(The sponsorship value) is IDR 180 billion from the two of them," he said as reported by Indosport.
That said, in that season each club received a subsidy of Rp. 7.5 billion for one year of competition.
Furthermore, for the 2019/2020 season, the club is reported to have received funding support of IDR 5 billion for one season. If in that period there are 18 teams, it is estimated that the budget support provided by the main sponsor will reach at least Rp. 90 billion.
VOI then tried to contact BRI Corporate Secretary Aestika Oryza Gunarto to get a detailed explanation of the value of the company's support for the 2021/2022 Indonesian League competition. However, the Bank Rakyat Indonesia official has not yet responded.
Information was even provided by the public relations staff from BRI regarding the previous editor's questions.
"Later, if there is a release, we will share about it (Indonesian League sponsors)," said BRI staff.
