MR, The Orphaned Boy Who Used His Grandmother's Debt Collateral, Gets A Scholarship
BOGOR – MR, a 5-year-old boy who was used as collateral for a debt by his grandparents was found in good health. Meanwhile, NH, a moneylender who took MR as collateral, has been named a suspect.
Bogor City Police Chief Kombes Susatyo Purnomo Condro told reporters that as a form of humanity, MR received a scholarship. This is intended so that MR can get an education.
"In the context of humanity, we also provide scholarships to MR's son, so that in the future he can get an education." said Susatyo to reporters, Monday, August 9.
Susatyo said that MR's condition needed to be considered because his parents were no longer there. According to him, MR needs guidance.
“He (MR) was born in Jakarta 2016, both of his parents have died. MR was left by his father since he was 3 months pregnant. Around 2017, MR's mother remarried. But her husband died of brain cancer. Then MR's mother followed, died. Finally, MR was placed under the supervision of his grandparents.
Susatyo again explained that related to the reason why MR was taken by the suspect, because his grandparents had debts from Rp. 8.7 million to Rp. 15.4 million. Susatyo said the money was used for daily needs.
