23.7 Million People In Indonesia Have Been Fully Vaccinated Against COVID-19, If Only The First Dose Is 50.49 Million People

JAKARTA - The number of Indonesian citizens who have received two COVID-19 vaccine injections or have undergone complete vaccinations is recorded at more than 23.7 million according to data from the COVID-19 Task Force on Sunday, August 8 at 12.00 western Indonesia time.

Reporting from Antara, the Task Force's data shows that the number of people who have completed the COVID-19 vaccination has increased by 432,059 to a total of 23,777,323 people. Meanwhile, the number of residents who had received the first dose of vaccine increased by 696,117 people to a total of 50,497,940 people.

The government plans to vaccinate 208,265,720 million people for COVID-19 to realize communal immunity against diseases caused by infection with the SARS-CoV-2 type of coronavirus.

Currently, the number of residents who received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine was only 24.24 percent of the total target, and those who had completed the vaccination only reached 11.41 percent of the total vaccination target.

The government is trying to accelerate the increase in COVID-19 vaccination coverage by providing more vaccination service facilities, including providing mobile vaccination services, vaccination lantatur facilities, and floating vaccination service facilities.

Meanwhile, Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin said the arrival of a vaccine would accelerate COVID-19 vaccination.

"This month more than 70 million will come. For comparison, from January to July we get 90 million vaccines, now it's 70 million a month. So you can imagine that the speed of injection will have to be high," said Budi.
