Starting With Sparks In The Car, Gas Station In Pangkep Sulsel Burns Out: TNI Members And Their Children Become Victims

SULSEL - A fire incident occurred at a public gas station (SPBU), Bungoro District, Pangkajene Islands (Pangkep) Kubupaten, South Sulawesi. One person was reported dead and two others injured.

"Yes, that's right, there were three people who became victims when the fire broke out, one person died," said Head of the Public Relations Division of the Pangkep Police, Aipda Agus Mursalim when confirmed by reporters as reported by Antara, Friday, August 6 night.

The three victims were each member of the TNI Kodim 1421 / Pangkep, Sergeant Yarman (35) and his son Habib Ashar (8), as well as his nephew Muh Alif (15) who reportedly died.

Based on initial information obtained, the fire at the gas station occurred at around 15.25 WITA when Sergeant Yarman and his family filled their car with fuel.

After refueling, when they were about to start the car, suddenly a spark appeared and quickly set fire to the local gas station until all three became victims.

"When it was his turn to fill it up, and after filling it up, I don't know how, it is suspected that the koslet (car) might or something else catch fire," he said.

According to Agus, Serka Yarman suffered lacerations from broken car windows, while his son (Habib Ansar) had burns to his head and stomach. Meanwhile, his nephew (Alif) died on the spot.

From that incident, the police are still conducting an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire at the Bungoro gas station, Pangkep Regency.

"In the meantime, the cause of the fire is being investigated. We are still investigating. The victim is still at Pangkep Hospital," he added.

The head of the Pangkep Regency Fire Department, Djadjang, said that at the time of the incident his party deployed two firefighters to help put out the fire, because the gas station was known to belong to PT Tonasa, which also has a fleet of firefighters.

"Two were taken down earlier, to help put out the fire, because Tonasa also has a fleet of firefighters," he said.
