Depok Becomes The Region With The Highest Active Cases Of COVID-19 In Indonesia
JAKARTA - Spokesperson for the COVID-19 Task Force, Wiku Adisasmito, said that Depok City was the district/city with the highest active COVID-19 cases in Indonesia. This is based on the accumulated data of the Task Force as of August 1.
Active cases are people who are confirmed positive and are still undergoing isolation and treatment. After Depok, districts/cities with the highest active cases are Bekasi City, Bandung City, Bantul Regency, and South Tangerang City.
"Nationally, the top 5 districts/cities with the highest active cases are Depok City with 27.389 active cases, Bekasi City 22.674 active cases, Bandung City 15.151 active cases, Bantul Regency with 14.760 active cases, and South Tangerang City with 11.180 active cases", said Wiku in a virtual press conference, Thursday, August 5.
Wiku admitted that weekly active cases nationwide began to decline, after a spike in cases in the past month. As of July 25, there were 573.903 active cases. Then, the decline in active cases began to be seen on August 1, amounting to 535.135 cases.
However, said Wiku, there are still 25.49 percent or 131 city districts that have more than 1.000 active cases of COVID-19.
"Of the 131 urban districts, unfortunately, they are still dominated by urban districts from the islands of Java and Bali", he said.

If you look at the 50 districts/cities with the highest active cases, West Java is the contributor to the most urban districts with the highest active cases, namely 11 districts/cities, followed by Banten and East Java with 6 districts/cities each, and DIY 5 districts/cities.
Meanwhile, 63.3 percent or 324 other districts/cities have active cases ranging from 51 to 1.000 cases. Wiku asked the area to maintain a decline in cases.
"This means that the decline in positive cases must continue to be maintained, but the existing active cases must also continue to be suppressed. And this of course requires great efforts so that the recovery rate is also higher", said Wiku.
