Many Students Affected By The Pandemic, Nadiem Continues To Aid UKT Rp2.4 Million
JAKARTA - Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Mendikbudristek) Nadiem Makarim will again distribute single tuition assistance (UKT) to students.
This UKT assistance, said Nadiem, was distributed because many students were still affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Each student who receives will receive a maximum of Rp. 2.4 million.
"Hearing that there are so many students because of the economic impact of COVID-19, we responded by making UKT assistance which we continue. We provide UKT assistance at cost or according to the UKT amount, with a maximum limit of 2.4 million rupiah per student," said Nadiem in a virtual press conference, Wednesday, August 4.
There is also a budget that has been disbursed by the Ministry of Education and Culture for the continuation of the UKT building for students affected by the pandemic, reaching Rp. 745 billion.
According to Nadiem, if the amount of UKT is greater than the nominal aid, then the difference in the UKT with a maximum limit of 2.4 million becomes university policy in accordance with student conditions.
He continued, this UKT assistance was given to students who were actively studying and were not recipients of other assistance such as the KIP Lecture, or the Bidikmisi scholarship.
"This is for students who have not received assistance for UKT payments and their financial conditions and their families in the odd semester of 2021," he said.
There are also students who need UKT assistance, they can register with the head of the university which is then submitted to the Ministry of Education and Culture.
"The process is the same as before, we will start distributing the aid directly to the respective universities," he added.
