The Corruption Eradication Commission Will Supervise Laptop Procurement Budget By Ministry of Education and Culture

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) claims it will oversee the state budget used by the Ministry of Education and Culture to procure red and white laptops for students with a value of IDR 2.4 trillion.

"The KPK and of course other law enforcement officers will continue to monitor any use of state money", Acting KPK Spokesperson for Enforcement Ali Fikri told reporters, Tuesday, August 3.

The plan to purchase the laptop is for the digitization of the school. Distribution is done through physical special allocation funds (DAK) to local governments.

The plan is to provide 242.265 students in 15.656 schools. However, this policy is in the spotlight because one laptop in this program reaches IDR 10 million per unit.

Returning to the KPK, Ali reminded the Ministry of Education and Technology to be transparent in the process of procuring Red and White Laptops. "The implementation of activities must be ensured to be carried out in accordance with the applicable procurement mechanisms and rules", said Ali.
