UPI Emblem: Hope For People Who Are Knowledgeable But Do Not Forget The Creator

JAKARTA - The Indonesian University of Education (UPI) has a red and black emblem. Of course, the choice of a symbol is like random, UPI wants to convey an implicit message through the elements that exist in the symbol.

A brief history of UPI, this university was founded in 1954. UPI started as a Teacher Education College that experienced a metamorphosis to become one of the State Universities with Legal Entities in Indonesia.

The UPI symbol has red, white, black and yellow colors. The colors red, black and yellow are PTPG's distinctive colors, implying historical glimpses of the early days of teacher education colleges in Indonesia. Then, if you pay close attention, the black color forms the leaves and the red color is the flower crown and the stigma.

Launching UPI's official website, Saturday, June 13, the elements of leaves and flowers imply that UPI is a nursery and seedlings of the nation and cadres of national leaders. The pair of leaves and flowers also refers to the fertile land of Priangan and Bandung, the City of Flowers, which is the spirit of the revival of the Asian-African country. The symbol also indicates that the fragrant and fragrant Bumi Siliwangi is where the UPI stands.

Black and red also have their own meaning. The red color symbolizes the spirit of courage in discovering and defending truth, both scientific truth and divine truth. Then for black, it implies a solid and stable atmosphere as the basis for steady growth. The UPI symbol also has a yellow color in the middle which symbolizes courage, greatness (heart), dignity, and wisdom.

In addition, the red color combined with the white base on the UPI symbol implies the Dwiwarna Sang Merah Putih as the flag of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia which symbolizes national insight and the spirit of unity and unity that must always be fostered in the life of the nation and state. This is no exception in academic life.

Then, the round shape of the UPI symbol has two meanings. First, it symbolizes full recognition of the omnipotence and perfection of Allah SWT. Second, it symbolizes or states that all UPI residents, both the academic community and their educational staff, are determined to jointly carry out their respective duties, in accordance with UPI's vision, mission, and functions, with full responsibility and total surrender to Allah. Almighty.

The horizontal curved lines on the symbol also imply that UPI has a forward-looking, national-minded, and global outlook. The three horizon lines symbolize hablumminallah, which implies a religious spirit that colors all walks of life of campus people.

There is also a straight vertical line which implies UPI's mission as an institution for building and producing knowledgeable, faithful, and obedient people to Allah Almighty.
