False Prediction, Epidemiologist Dr Tifauzia Tyassuma Predicts The COVID-19 Pandemic Will Still Last A Long Time

JAKARTA - Epidemiologist as well as academics and researchers from the Experts Institute, Dr. Tifauzia Tyassuma, estimates that the pandemic will not end soon.

Previously, Tifauzia predicted that the pandemic was predicted to be complete by the end of 2022. However, this prediction had to be revised again.

"17 months ago, at that time I said, judging by the nature of this pandemic, it will last between 18 -24 months. This means that it will stop at the end of 2022", Tifauzia said on the Hersubeno Point channel on YouTube, Thursday, July 29.

This, according to Tifauzia, refers to the latest conditions in Indonesia, where a new variant of Delta from India that spreads more quickly is rampaging in various regions. Not to mention other variants.

"The problem is now that this virus is mutating. WHO has confirmed the existence of new variants, such as Alpha, Delta, and others. And, it has infected our population," he said.

The names of the new variants from the WHO, she said, were a signal that COVID-19 would continue to mutate. Even up to the Omega variant, which is the last letter of the Greek alphabet.

"This means that if we are intelligent, this is a signal from WHO that this virus will continue to mutate to Omega. It means that we have to revise this again when the pandemic ends", she explained.

Not scary, continued Tifauzia but seeing the current condition the death rate in Indonesia is very worrying. Plus the number of cases that broke records several times.

"That's why I remind the Ministry of Health to be careful with this Case Fatality Rate (CFR)", she said.
