Establish Communication With Litigation Parties, ICW: Lili Pintauli Imitates Firli Bahuri's Behavior Perilaku
JAKARTA - Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) assessed that KPK Deputy Chairwoman Lili Pintauli Siregar had succeeded in imitating the behavior of KPK Chair Firli Bahuri when she was still the Deputy for Enforcement.
ICW researcher Kurnia Ramadhana said this assessment arose because Lili was suspected of communicating with the party whose case was being investigated by the KPK, namely the Mayor of Tanjungbalai M Syahrial. This relationship allegedly occurred when investigators from the anti-corruption commission were investigating the alleged sale and purchase of positions in the Tanjungbalai City Government.
"This incident is similar to what Firli Bahuri did a few years ago with the regional head from West Nusa Tenggara. If it is true (there was a communication relationship, ed) this means that Lili has succeeded in imitating Firli's behavior," Kurnia said when contacted by VOI, Wednesday, July 28.
ICW encourages Lili to withdraw from the Tanjungbalai bribery handling process involving M Syahrial and the former KPK investigator, Stepanus Robin Pattuju. This aims to prevent conflicts of interest.
Moreover, the rules related to this have been explicitly regulated in Article 4 paragraph (1) letter j of the Supervisory Board Regulation Number 2 of 2020 which reads: "every member of the KPK is obliged to resign from their assignment if in carrying out their duties it is suspected to cause a conflict of interest".
In addition, the KPK must immediately investigate a number of allegations including whether there was a flow of funds received by Lili after communicating with Syahrial and who Fachri Aceh was called her trusted person.
"Next, is this the first time that Lili has communicated with the litigants? Because ICW was worried that Lili had previously practiced similar practices in other cases," said Kurnia.
ICW also encourages the KPK Supervisory Board to ensure that the trial process for alleged ethical violations next week can run ethically. Bearing in mind, a number of ethical enforcements carried out by Tumpak Hatorangan Panggabean et al are often blunt up and sharp down.
If later from the ethics trial it is proven that there is a serious violation, the KPK Council is asked to impose severe sanctions, namely recommending Lili to resign from her position.
Not only against the KPK, ICW also encourages the police to issue an investigation warrant for alleged violations of Article 65 of the KPK Law regarding the prohibition of KPK leaders from having direct or indirect contact with litigants. Later, if the offense is proven, Lili could be sentenced to five years in prison.
"Once again the incident of Lili Pintauli Siregar further proves how corrupt the integrity of the KPK has been since it was led by Firli Bahuri," he concluded.
