Give A Message When Leaving The Athletics National Team For The Tokyo Olympics, Luhut Pandjaitan: Focus Until The Pistol Starts Ringing
JAKARTA - The General Chair of the Indonesian Athletics Association (PB PASI) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan released the departure of the Athletics national team to compete at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Indonesia will compete in athletics by sending two athletes, namely Lalu Muhammad Zohri and Alvin Tehupeiory, who each compete in the men's and women's 100m running events.
"Athletes must maintain concentration and focus until the gun starts ringing. Keep looking ahead and achieving goals," Luhut said in the PB PASI social media account that was reported by Antara, Thursday
Luhut hopes that Zohri and Alvin will give the best achievement to make Indonesia proud in the world.
Zohri, became the first Indonesian athlete to secure a ticket to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics through competition results in the Seiko Golden Grand Prix Championship in May 2019 in Osaka, Japan.
In the championship that was included in the Tokyo Olympics qualifying series, the 18-year-old runner from Lombok who was then finished third with a time of 10.03 seconds.
The record was only 0.03 seconds apart from Justin Gatlin, a world-class runner from the United States who occupied the top podium.
Meanwhile, Alvin, qualified for Tokyo armed with the wildcard status provided through the universality scheme of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Universality is a qualifying system of international sports federations that allows the National Olympic Committee (KOI) to nominate one male or female athlete to appear in the Olympics.
