The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency Predicts Heavy Rain And Strong Winds In Some Areas
JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) issued an early warning that forecasts heavy rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds that could potentially occur in several parts of Indonesia on Sunday, July 18.
In information quoted from the BMKG website, Sunday, July 18, the potential for moderate to heavy rain accompanied by lightning was warned for the provinces of East Java, South Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, Central Sulawesi, Papua, and West Papua.
Cyclonic circulation was observed in the western part of Papua, which formed an area of wind speed deceleration (convergence) that extends from the northern waters of Papua to the western coast of Papua, as well as cyclonic circulation in the western waters of Bengkulu.
Other convergence areas extend in the southern part of Bengkulu to northern Jambi, in East Kalimantan to the northern waters of northern Kalimantan, and in the western Banda Sea to the southern part of the Maluku Sea.
This condition is able to increase the potential for rain cloud growth around the cyclonic circulation and along the convergence area.
The BMKG also asked the public to be aware of the potential for strong winds in the areas of Gorontalo, West Sulawesi, East Nusa Tenggara, and West Nusa Tenggara.
For Aceh Province, the BMKG asked the public to be aware of the potential for rising air temperatures that could cause drought. This is the weather forecast for today.
