Asked To Quickly Arrest The Regent Of Mamberamo Raya, Police: There Are Still Rules

JAKARTA - The Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police, Komjen Agus Andrianto, said that his party was in conflict with the regulation regarding the need to obtain permission from the Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian to arrest the Regent of Mamberamo Raya, Dorinus Dasinapa. Dorinus is a suspect in the alleged corruption case of COVID-19 funds.

This was conveyed by Kabareskrim in response to the statement of Deputy Chairman of Commission II of the DPR Luqman Hakim who said that the regulation had long been abolished.

"As far as I know, it still does (the arrest permit)," said Komjen Agus when confirmed, Thursday, July 15.

In addition, Komhen Agus said that one of the reasons he was still waiting for permission from the Minister of Home Affairs was because he did not want the legal process to face obstacles in the future. The Police stressed that Kabareskrim would still follow the existing rules.

"Especially if later detained for the smooth process of the law," said Komjen Agus.

Meanwhile, for the development of the permit application to the Minister of Home Affairs, Komjen Agus stated that he had submitted an arrest warrant to the National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo.

Later the letter will be signed and sent to the Minister of Home Affairs to obtain permission.

"A letter is being submitted to be signed by the National Police Chief. It is addressed to the Minister of Home Affairs," said Kabareskrim.

Mamberamo Raya Regent Dorinus Dasinapa was named a suspect in the alleged corruption case of COVID-19 funds in the 2020 fiscal year amounting to Rp. 3,153,100,000.

The determination of the suspect after investigators conducted two cases at the Criminal Investigation Unit at the National Police Headquarters, Jakarta.

Even though he is already a suspect, his party has not made any arrests and detentions because they are still waiting for approval from the Minister of Home Affairs.

From the results of the examination, it was revealed that the COVID-19 funds were allegedly used to finance the elections. The Mamberamo Raya Regency Government allocated Rp 7,257,600,000.00 for handling COVID-19.
