KUDUS - Polres Kudus, Central Java, intensified joint patrols as a precautionary measure against crime, following the number of street lighting lamps (LPJU) that were extinguished during the Emergency Restrictions on Community Activities (PPKM) period.
"People's concerns about the blackout of street lights will lead to crime. We responded by intensifying joint patrols", said Kudus Police Chief Aditya Surya Dharma, quoted by Antara, Monday, July 12.
The police chief asked people who do not have urgent interests at night to stay at home.
Later, he said, the policy will also be analyzed and evaluated related to the impact on the community.

Even if there is a crime occurring at this time, according to the Police Chief, it is not because of the blackout of the street lights. Before there was a policy of turning off street lights, the perpetrators had also repeatedly committed similar crimes.
"If it turns out that the policy has a lot of bad impacts in the community, of course, it will be evaluated with various parties", said Aditya AKBP.
The Kudus Police has just uncovered a mugging case with the perpetrators of a group of teenagers aged between 18 and 20 years. There were eight people in the gang. Each action alternates pairs.
