Nurdin Abdullah Immediately Tried In Makassar District Court Regarding Bribery And Gratification

JAKARTA - The Public Prosecutor (JPU) of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has transferred the investigation file of the inactive Sulawesi Governor Nurdin Abdullah to the Corruption Eradication Court at the Makassar District Court.

At the same time, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Prosecutor also handed over the files of the Secretary of the South Sulawesi Public Works and Spatial Planning (PUTR) Office, Edy Rahmat.

Both parties are recipients of bribes and gratuities related to the procurement of goods and services, licensing and infrastructure development within the South Sulawesi Provincial Government for the 2020-2021 Fiscal Year.

"The public prosecutor's team, represented by M. Asri Irwan, has transferred the case files of the defendants Nurdin Abdullah and Edy Rahmat to the Corruption Court at the Makassar District Court," Acting KPK Spokesperson for Prevention Ipi Maryati told reporters on Monday, July 12.

Furthermore, the detention of the two defendants became the authority of the Makassar Corruption Court and during the trial process Nurdin Abdullah was still entrusted with his place of detention at the KPK Rutan Pomdam Jaya Guntur branch.

Meanwhile, the defendant Edhy was also entrusted to his place of detention, namely the KPK Rutan Kavling C1.

"Furthermore, the JPU team is waiting for the appointment of the Panel of Judges and the determination of the day of the trial with the first agenda being reading the indictment," said Ipi.

Meanwhile, Nurdin Abdullah was charged with the first indictment of Article 12 letter a of the Corruption Law in conjunction with Article 55 Paragraph (1) to 1 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 64 Paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code or secondly Article 12 B of the Anti-Corruption Law in conjunction with Article 65 Paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code.

Meanwhile, Edy Rahmat, was charged with the first indictment of Article 12 letter (a) of the Anti-Corruption Law in Article 55 Paragraph (1) to 1 of the Criminal Code or secondly Article 11 of the Anti-Corruption Law in conjunction with Article 55 Paragraph (1) to 1 of the Criminal Code.

Previously reported, Nurdin Abdullah was named a suspect in the alleged bribery and gratification case related to the procurement of goods and services, licensing and infrastructure development within the South Sulawesi Provincial Government for the 2020-2021 Fiscal Year.

This PDIP politician was named a suspect together with the Secretary of the PUTR Office of South Sulawesi Province, Edy Rahmat. Meanwhile, Director of PT Agung Perdana Bulukumba (APB) Agung Sucipto was named a suspect for giving bribes.

While serving as Governor of South Sulawesi, Nurdin was suspected of receiving bribes and gratuities with a total value of Rp 5.4 billion related to projects within the South Sulawesi Provincial Government. Rp2 billion was given from Agung through Edy. The bribe was given so that Agung could return to work on the project in South Sulawesi for the 2021 fiscal year.
