The Pleasure Of Bentor Driver Receiving Basic Food After Being Vaccinated At Rusli Habibie's Official Residence
GORONTALO - Hundreds of motorized rickshaw drivers (bentor) and online motorcycle taxis received food assistance from the Gorontalo Provincial Government, after receiving the second dose of vaccine at the governor's official residence.
Gorontalo Governor Rusli Habibie assessed that the assistance was worthy of being given because the drivers sacrificed their time to earn a living to queue for the vaccine.
“This assistance is in accordance with my promise 28 days ago during the launch of the first phase of the vaccine. Today we prove it by handing over it symbolically," he said, quoted by Antara, Thursday, July 8.
The governor hopes that the public will be more aware of vaccines, to increase immunity from COVID-19 attacks.
“Outside Gorontalo, we saw that the medicines were running out, the oxygen was running out. Never mind getting a room, just entering the ER is full. I don't want my people to be like that," he said.
Rusli said he was worried that the same condition would occur in Gorontalo, especially if it attacked residents who had comorbidities.
According to him, Gorontalo is not as good as the regions in Java in terms of facilities for medical equipment and medical personnel.
“There are only six ventilators for our breathing apparatus at the Ainun Hospital. Currently, there are 20 patients being treated. We only have two lung specialists," he said.
