Called The King Of Silent, This Is The Work Of Vice President Ma'ruf Amin

JAKARTA - Spokesperson for Vice President Ma'ruf Amin, Masduki Baidlowi said the nickname The King of Silent given by the Student Executive Board of the Semarang State University Student Family (BEM KM Unnes) is common in the democratic era.

However, he denied the assumption that the former PBNU Rais Aam did not work. According to him, the position of vice president is not an executorial worker but rather coordinates the work of the president. Ma'ruf also carried out this task while serving as vice president since 2019.

"As far as the main tasks of the function are concerned, the vice president in my eyes and the eyes of the other teams who are accompanying him have worked quite well," Masduki told reporters at an online press conference, Wednesday, July 7.

He said the task given by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) had been carried out well by Ma'ruf Amin. These tasks include alleviating poverty, stunting, as well as related to the sharia economy.

Not only that, Ma'ruf also manages the National Committee for Sharia Economics and Finance. Masduki said that on the committee Ma'ruf was in charge of the development of the halal industry, financial networks, and socializing the sharia economy.

Another task carried out by Ma'ruf is related to the welfare of the people in Papua. Masduki said, the former chairman of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) often held meetings with the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD.

"Even the Vice President has called the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs to go to Papua. Even the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs stated that he is ready to prepare everything from various lines so that everything goes smoothly," said Masduki.

"But then there was a severe COVID-19 condition again like now, then it didn't happen anymore," he added.

In addition, there are many other tasks that Jokowi has given to Ma'ruf, including carrying out bureaucratic reform. "Yes, although there are indeed many obstacles, the Vice President continues to monitor where the road goes and so on," he said.

"It means that the eyewitnesses around saw enough to see that the Vice President was working properly," concluded Masduki.
