Emergency COVID-19 Pandemic Situation, PDIP Asks Health Authorities To Get Out Of Ordinary Procedures
JAKARTA - Secretary General of the PDI-P Hasto Kristiyanto asked all stakeholders to take breakthrough steps to realize public safety. This includes accelerating the production and dissemination of drugs that can cure COVID-19.
"The highest law is the safety of the people, nation and state. With this approach, if based on empirical tests, through various experiences of several countries and also through a medical approach, empirical facts prove that there is a drug that is believed to be able to cure COVID-19, then do it That's it. Accelerate production, socialize the dose of use," said Hasto in a written statement to reporters, Tuesday, July 6.
He said authorities in the health sector from the Ministry of Health, the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM), to various research institutions must be able to get out of bureaucratic establishments and get out of ordinary procedures.
"Get out of the procedure as usual, and look for various things so that people's beliefs to have a fighting spirit continue to be carried out," he said.
Hasto also mentioned Ivermectin or a worm medicine which has been hotly discussed recently. According to him, if the trial states that the drug can be used to cure COVID-19, then the government should use it. As long as the dosage is appropriate and does not endanger public safety.
"If the actual medicine for the worm medicine is in a dose that is believed to be able to ward off COVID-19 and it is still within the safe tolerance limit, then do it massively," he said.
"In short, fighting COVID-19 requires faith, hope, and something that can create healing power," added Hasto.
If the consideration is accepted, then the next step is to produce the drug on a large scale so that it can be distributed to the public. Hasto reminded that COVID-19 can be faced with a breakthrough, not with fear of being held hostage by various interests.
"The war against the virus must be faced with breakthrough power and courage, not locking oneself in rigid bureaucratic procedures that are often held hostage by various interests," he said.
"PDI-P believes that as long as the spirit continues to burn, mutual cooperation is put forward, and the safety of the people is the most important, then various courage to take breakthrough steps will be produced," concluded Hasto.
