Don't Be Imitated, Police Arrest Dozens Of Youth Skateboard Players During Emergency PPKM

JAKARTA - Menteng Metro Police arrested dozens of youths who were busy gathering and playing skateboards on Monday, July 6 evening, in the Menteng area, Central Jakarta, during Emergency PPKM and when cases of people exposed to COVID-19 continued to increase.

During the implementation of the Emergency Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM), all parties should refrain from doing so. "We arrested people who were hanging out, it's not clear. At Suropati Park, under Jalan Blora, someone else was playing skateboarding. Yesterday, we transported all of them," said Menteng Police Chief Kompol Rohman Yongki, when confirmed in Jakarta, Tuesday 6th July.

Yongki explained that his party carried out a sweep of the community who were still active until the evening during the Emergency PPKM period.

As a result, the youths who were caught gathering, such as in Suropati Park, under Jalan Blora, Pegangsaan Police Post, were arrested by officers.

At least 30 youths over 18 years of age received coaching at the Menteng Metro Police, Monday, July 6.

The youths who were arrested were also generally not local residents. They are domiciled outside DKI, such as in Bekasi, Tangerang, South Tangerang and Ciputat. "There are also residents there that we transported some, the reason being that they were unloading motorbikes, it's not impossible, it's just an Emergency PPKM, when you want to 'workshop' until dawn," Kompol Yongki said as reported by Antara.

Dozens of these youths have now been sent home after being given guidance by officers, considering that the Emergency PPKM only runs on the first day of work.

Furthermore, the police do not hesitate to take firm action for residents who are still determined to gather until the evening during the COVID-19 period and during the Emergency PPKM enforcement.
