Coordinating Minister Luhut Ensures Non-essential Employees Who Are WFH Will Not Be Fired, What Is The Guarantee?
JAKARTA - The Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment as well as the Emergency PPKM Coordinator for Java-Bali Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan emphasized that the non-essential sector must implement 100 percent work from home (WFH). Therefore, Luhut asked the Ministry of Manpower to issue the notification letter.
Luhut claimed to have coordinated with the Minister of Manpower Ida Fauziyah. Luhut asked the Minister of Manpower to remind non-essential companies not to dismiss or dismiss employees who have to work from home.
"Earlier, I called the Minister of Manpower and also told companies not to fire their employees in this context. So that our language is the same," he said in a virtual press conference, Monday, July 5.
Coordinating Minister Luhut also appealed to all non-essential sector employees who were forced to work in the office to immediately report to the government. Especially in the DKI Jakarta area, it can be done through the Department of Manpower or the JAKI application.
Luhut explained that efforts to stem the mobility of citizens through the work from home regulation in Jakarta will also have an impact in the Bodetabek area. This is because some of the workers in Jakarta are Bodetabek residents.
"This will certainly reduce the mobility of residents in Bogor, Depok, Tangerang and Bekasi, who mostly work in Jakarta. We saw that the trains were still full," he said.
Not only that, Luhut also asked the authorities to take action against non-essential companies that forced their employees to work in offices during the implementation of the emergency PPKM. This includes checking the entire company on a regular basis.
"Kapolda Metro and Pangdam Jaya to check whether non-essential operations are still operating and do not hesitate to impose sanctions on companies," he said.
In addition, Luhut requested that all parties comply with the emergency PPKM rules. The reason is, from his direct observation, the condition of Jakarta and other buffer areas is still jammed during the implementation of emergency PPKM.
"Today a number of roads in the Greater Jakarta area are still filled with the mobility of people working and causing congestion. I want no one to play around with this (emergency PPKM)," he said.
