Bengkulu Governor Rohidin Mersyah Positive For COVID-19, Self-Isolation In His Official Residence

JAKARTA - Bengkulu Governor Rohidin Mersyah has tested positive for COVID-19. Currently, Rohidin is undergoing self-isolation at his official residence, the Bengkulu Semarak Balai Raya Building.

This was confirmed by the administrator of the Regional Leadership Council (DPD) of the Bengkulu Province Golkar Party, Zulkarnain Kaka Jodho when contacted by telephone in Bengkulu, reported by Antara, Monday, July 5.

"Mr. Governor is undergoing self-isolation, we pray that he will soon be healthy and can carry out the Bengkulu Province program to become a good province", he said.

Zulkarnain explained that the Bengkulu Governor's family, including his wife and children, are currently in good health.

Information about the Bengkulu Governor being exposed to COVID-19 has circulated in several social media channel groups. However, the Bengkulu Provincial Government has not issued an official statement regarding this matter.

The Head of the Bengkulu Province Health Office, Herwan, who is currently also appointed as the Acting Director of the M Yunus Regional General Hospital Bengkulu, has not yet answered the message sent to confirm the truth of the information.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Bengkulu Province Communication, Information and Statistics Agency, Jaduliwan, who is also the Spokesperson for the Bengkulu Province COVID-19 Task Force, said that his party is currently unable to provide any statements.

"For sure, I haven't received any information, my friends", he explained briefly.

Rohidin Mersyah is the 10th Governor of Bengkulu. He was re-inaugurated as Bengkulu Governor on February 25, 2021 after being declared the winner in the simultaneous regional elections on December 9, 2020. Rohidin is currently still serving as Chairman of the Regional Representative Council of Bengkulu Province from the Golkar Party.
