Iwan Fals Is Very Brave, Asks For Oxygen Hoarders To Be Severely Punished
JAKARTA - The scarcity of oxygen cylinders when the COVID-19 pandemic peaked in Indonesia made many people feel concerned. The need for oxygen cylinders has soared for the treatment of COVID-19 patients. Even so, there are speculators who hoard and increase the price of oxygen.
MUI has issued a fatwa haram on oxygen collectors. Head of the MUI Fatwa Division, Asrorun Niam Sholeh, reminded that MUI Fatwa 14/2020 which reads that actions that cause panic and or cause public harm, such as buying and stockpiling basic necessities and hoarding masks are legal.
This fatwa also applies to those who buy medicines, vitamins, and oxygen. Which causes scarcity so that people who need it and are urgent, cannot get it.
"Hoarding of basic needs is not allowed even for precautionary purposes and supplies, while there are other people who need them very urgently," Asrorun Niam told reporters, Sunday, July 4.
Iwan Fals also regrets that there are people who try to take advantage of the increasing demand for oxygen. Through Twitter, the singer of the song Bento hopes that the greedy people will be severely punished.
"Yes, yes, hoarders of oxygen, medicines, vitamins and basic necessities for life, for profit and because of greed during this pandemic, they must be punished as severely as possible... how dare you..." wrote Iwan Fals via Twitter @iwanfals who had already verified, Monday, July 5th.
