Asking Permission To Go To Family Home, Prisoners In Timika Prison Successfully Escape
JAKARTA - The Class II B Correctional Institution in Timika, Papua is currently investigating and processing an individual warden with the initials OF. He was considered negligent so that an inmate named Taufik Tampik fled.
Head of Timika Headquarters, Marthen Bake Palinoan, said the Correctional Observer Team (TPP) would make an official report on the examination (BAP) of the OF warden and then the results of the examination would be sent to the Papua Province Legal and Human Rights Regional Office for sanctions.
"There is already a TPP team that will examine the employee concerned. We will propose to the Regional Office of Law and Human Rights in Jayapura to impose sanctions on the person concerned", explained Marthen.
The case of the escape of Taufik Tampik's inmates occurred on June 20.

Taufik Tampik himself is a convict in a narcotics abuse case. He has just served two years of his sentence, out of a total of 7 years according to the Timika District Court's verdict.
The chronology of the escape of inmate Taufik Tampik began when one of the inmates of the Timika Prison fell ill and was rushed to Mimika Hospital for treatment.
OF at that time was tasked with bringing the inmates to Mimika Hospital. He called inmate Taufik Tampik to accompany him to Timika Hospital.
After receiving treatment, OF together with inmate Taufik Tampik and sick inmates want to return to Timika Prison, which is located at Kampung Naena Muktipura SP6, Iwaka District.
On the way, Taufik Tampik asked permission to stop at a relative's house. That opportunity was used by prisoner Taufik Tampik to escape.
"Our officer was careless. From the start, we ordered him to look for it. There is no such rule, unless the person concerned is sick, we will be escorted and there must be official permission, which is also very limited, for example, if a close family member dies or is sick. And that too must be tried by the TPP", explained Marthen.
The case of the escape of the inmates from the Timika Prison is the first incident in 2021.
Currently, the number of inmates who inhabit the Timika Prison is 265 people.
