Airlangga's Pledge For Golkar To Be Clean Without Dowry In 2020

JAKARTA - General Chairman of the Golkar Party, Airlangga Hartarto, at the closing of the National Conference (Munas) X conveyed a number of promises after being appointed as leader of the party bearing the banyan tree symbol.

One of the promises he made was to encourage the 2020 Regional Head Elections (Pilkada) to run without any political dowry. Airlangga said that the Golkar Party DPP would help cadres who wanted to advance in the regional elections instead of giving a burden, with political dowry.

"We will declare the 2020 Pilkada as a regional election without dowry," said Airlangga during a speech at the closing ceremony of the 10th Golkar National Conference at the Ritz Carlton Hotel, South Jakarta, Thursday, December 5.

Airlangga explained, this was conveyed in order to create a just dignity. He also promised that his party will remain committed to being free from corruption.

Becoming chairman of Golkar for the second time has made Airlangga even more convinced that this anti-corruption commitment has become the moral and spiritual strength of the cadres.

"I will continue the clean Golkar movement as an anti-corruption party. Clean Golkar is not only a jargon, but a pillar and foundation," he said.

Prioritize the Chairman of the DPD

In the opening of the Golkar National Leadership Meeting (Rapimnas) which was held on November 14 and 15, General Chairman of the DPP Golkar Party Airlangga Hartarto emphasized that Golkar prioritizes advancing its cadres in the Pilkada.

The Golkar Party gives priority to the chairmen of the DPD level I, level II who have high electability to be nominated in the regional elections.

He explained, there are 270 regions that will hold simultaneous regional elections next year. Thus, Golkar Party cadres need to prepare a strategy to win the competition.

In addition, he added, regeneration and regeneration within the Golkar Party is a necessity.

"Golkar must encourage regeneration and regeneration. Young people are increasingly playing an important role, not only in winning elections, but in determining future policies," said Airlangga.

A number of young Golkar cadres currently occupy strategic positions in both the legislative and governmental institutions. Airlangga said that in the future, Golkar must support young cadres.
