Bogor COVID-19 Emergency, Deputy Mayor: 300 Positive People In A Day

JAKARTA - Deputy Mayor of Bogor, West Java, Dedie A Rachim, said the spread of COVID-19 in his area had entered an emergency condition. So that more stringent handling is needed to suppress positive cases of the Coronavirus.

"Positive cases of COVID-19 in Bogor City have increased sharply in the last two weeks. On average, about 300 positive cases are added per day", said Dedie A Rachim in Bogor, as reported by Antara, Thursday, July 1.

According to Dedie, Bogor City residents who were confirmed positive for COVID-19 and were still sick as of Thursday today there were 3,705 cases. Meanwhile, the availability of beds for COVID-19 positive patients in 21 referral hospitals is 891 beds.

"Of this number, only half of the beds are occupied by residents of Bogor City, which is around 50 percent, while the other half is filled by residents from outside the City of Bogor. That means, there are around 3,000 residents of Bogor City who are undergoing self-isolation in their homes", he said.

According to him, there are also residents of Bogor City who have been exposed to COVID-19, and their families are looking for hospitals outside Bogor City.

"The mobility of residents who leave Bogor City to become a hospital also needs to be monitored, because there is a risk of contracting COVID-19", he said.

Dedie reminded all ranks in the Bogor City area, starting from sub-districts, urban villages, community empowerment institutions (LPM), to youth organizations, to help carry out a more accurate data collection of residents in their respective environments.

The data collection includes the location of the residents who are exposed, how many people are in close contact, as well as immediately consolidating with the Puskesmas, village head, or sub-district head.

Dedie emphasized that all ranks in the Bogor City area must be able to ensure that residents exposed to COVID-19 and undergoing self-isolation at home also receive attention from local health facilities, such as from the Public health center.

"At least getting standard medicine is important. So, even if the hospital in Bogor City is not able to accommodate all active cases of COVID-19 that require treatment, but so that there are home visits", he said.
