Jokowi Admits He Was Shaking And Nervous, This Is The Reason

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) revealed his personal experience in handling the COVID-19 pandemic. Jokowi admitted that he was shaking when he learned about the depletion of isolation places for COVID-19 patients.

One of them was knowing the bed occupancy ratio (BOR) at the COVID-19 Emergency Hospital (RSDC) Wisma Atlet Kemayoran, Jakarta, which reached 92 percent.

This was conveyed by him while attending the opening of the VIII National Conference (Munas) of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) in Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi.

"In mid-January we were at 66 percent. It was quite high at that time. Then in mid-May it fell to 28 percent. From 66 percent to 28 percent. Very small, almost the occupancy of beds in hospitals is very small," Jokowi said as quoted from the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube, Friday, June 30.

"But, there is no one month jump, today 72 percent. National. Be careful about this," he added.

The former governor of DKI Jakarta later said that he often relied on the BOR at the Kemayoran Athlete's Wisma RSDC.

He even admitted that he often contacted the Head of the TNI Health Center, Maj. Gen. Ratmono as the Coordinator of the RSDC and the Field Commander of the Wisma Athlete Hospital, Marine Lt. Col. (K) M. Arifin every night to ask about the occupancy of the beds there.

As a result, one day in September 2020 he felt shaking and nervous because the BOR at the RSDC Wisma Atlet Kemayoran reached 92 percent.

"I'm really shaking and really nervous. But it can go down, down, even in the middle of May 18 it reaches 15 percent," he said.

However, this condition gradually returned after the Eid holiday season. "Today I have to tell the truth, 90 percent," said Jokowi.

"These are the numbers that must be conveyed as they are," he concluded.
