Klaten Enters Red Zone For COVID-19 Spread, Prambanan Temple Tourism Park Is Closed

JAKARTA - PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan, and Ratu Boko (Persero) again closed the operation of the Taman Wisata Candi Prambanan which is on the border of Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY) and Klaten Regency, Central Java from Wednesday (30/6) to 5 July 2021 because the area is in the red zone category.

"The temporary closure of the Prambanan TWC is carried out to follow up on the Klaten Regent Circular Number 443.5/418/13 concerning the Acceleration of Controlling the Spread of COVID-19 in Klaten Regency, Central Java," said PT TWC Corporate Secretary Emilia Eny Utari in Sleman, Yogyakarta, as reported by Antara, Tuesday.

According to her, the policy of closing the Prambanan TWC was taken following the soaring positive number of confirmed COVID-19 which made Klaten Regency included in the red zone category.

She explained that PT TWC as a state-owned company that manages tourist visit areas supports the Klaten Regency Government's steps to reduce the rate of transmission of COVID-19 in its area by closing the operation of the Prambanan TWC.

"We, as the manager of tourist destinations, have temporarily closed the operation of TWC Prambanan. We hope that this closure can participate in the process of suppressing the spread of COVID-19, as well as for recovery both in terms of health and economy in the community. We are confident that we can go through this situation together," she said.

He said that PT TWC would continue to monitor further regarding the conditions and further developments.

"We will continue to coordinate with the COVID-19 Control Task Force to see the current situation and conditions in Klaten. We are trying our best to support the recovery of this pandemic," said the Head of the PT TWC COVID-19 Handling Task Force.

He said that during this closure PT TWC continued to carry out preventive activities in reducing efforts to spread COVID-19. This is done by maintaining the cleanliness of the environment in the destination area.

"This is a form of our commitment to maintaining a comfortable and safe atmosphere in accordance with the CHSE certification from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy that we have received in all of our destinations," he said.
