JAKARTA - Polda Metro Jaya arrested three people who committed the crime of extortion by pretending to be police. In this case, the victims are ludo gamblers.
"The case is about the perpetrators who claim to be members of the Polda Metro police or fake police. We have arrested 3 people," said Head of Public Relations of the Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Yusri Yunus to reporters, Monday, June 28.
The perpetrators who were arrested had the initials HK, RN, and AGU. They were arrested based on two police reports (LP) in 2020.
"Based on reports from the public, there were two police reports dated June 9 last year, then also the incident in October that occurred in the Ciracas area, East Jakarta and the Makasar District in the Pondok Gede area," said Yusri.
Yusri continued, for the suspect HK was the mastermind of the crime. Then, RN as the driver of the car owner and AGU who also helped carry out the extortion.
The extortion action was carried out by bringing one of the victims in a modified car like a police vehicle. Then, in the car the victim was asked to hand over money.
"After that, they were invited to go around and then taken down the middle of the road, this is the mode," he said.
"When carrying out activities, he wore a detective t-shirt that said the police in front of him turned back crime. Then he wore a mask which was then written TNI Polri. But because he bought this weapon, the victims were scared," continued Yusri.
Meanwhile, in this case the suspects will also be charged with Article 365 of the Criminal Code with a threat of five years in prison
