Imports Continue, Jokowi Assessed Not Wanting Vaccine Sovereignty
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo is considered not to want research for medical independence and vaccine sovereignty to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic. This is due to the large number of vaccine imports from abroad, while Indonesia does not develop domestic research.
In addition to the Sinovac and AstraZeneca vaccine attacks, Pfizer's vaccine is planned to enter the country in August.
"I suspect that President Jokowi does not want research for medical independence and vaccine sovereignty," said Petisi 28 activist Haris Rusly Moti to reporters, Monday, June 28.
According to him, the development of two vaccines made by the nation's children, namely the Red and White vaccine and the Nusantara vaccine, has been hampered. To date, both vaccines are still in phase two clinical trials.
Haris thinks that domestic vaccines are like being detained by President Jokowi's subordinates who are pro-vaccine abroad. He also compared it to countries that were victims of the vaccine embargo.
"Meanwhile, the embargoed Iran succeeded in establishing medical sovereignty to produce the Barekat Vaccine," he said.
Haris made an analogy with the handling of COVID-19 in Indonesia and vaccines like Microsoft's code. Where there are fewer weapons or micro weapons, while the war is also getting smoother or softer.
“War is using software. Currency war, cyber war & biological war. Computer viruses, disease viruses and the US dollar currency are soldiers who paralyze the target country," he said.
