Adding Beds Doesn't Solve Problems If People Still Ignore 3M, Task Force: In Madura Wants To Be Swabbed Instead Invites A Duel

JAKARTA - Head of the Health Handling Division of the COVID-19 Task Force, Alexander Ginting, considers that the handling of the pandemic can be completed only by increasing the number of treatment beds and isolating COVID-19 patients.

According to Alex, no matter how many beds there are for COVID-19 patients, the spike in cases will not be controlled if there is no resolution in the upstream sector.

"Recently, the hospital has 100 percent for Covid-19. However, regardless of how many beds are converted, this will not answer the problem. This problem can be solved if the upstream sector can be resolved properly," said Alexander in the Trijaya Polemic discussion. , Saturday, June 25.

Handling from upstream, said Alexander, already has a good strategy. Starting from the obligation to comply with 3M health protocols, the government's 3T strategy, and the implementation of vaccinations.

The problem is, there are still many people who ignore 3M. Alex gave an example, many people are desperate to go home for Eid even though the government has prohibited it.

Then, the residents refused to block and check for antigens at the Suramadu Bridge. In fact, this was done to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

"We'll see at the Suramadu Bridge. They are given free swabs, they can invite us to a duel. Even though it costs Rp 80 thousand per unit," said Alexander.

"The swab is to protect his wife and children at home or if the mothers are to protect their children, to find out whether he has been infected or not," he continued.

Furthermore, Alexander admits that he often emphasizes to local governments that the implementation of micro-scale PPKM must make the community the subject of pandemic control.

"He must have existing problems. Because, when he feels as an object, that's what happens resistance," he said.
