Serie A Remains Suspended Until 14 June

JAKARTA - The Italian Football Federation FIGC announced that all football matches in Italy, including Serie A, will remain suspended until June 14.

Team training for the Serie A clubs resumed on Monday and the league hopes that competition can resume on June 13.

However, the FIGC announced in a statement on Monday evening it was harmonizing with a decree signed by Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte which suspended all sporting events and competitions until a day later.

That means Italy's top competitions will not be able to resume until June 15 at the earliest.

Meanwhile, there were 99 new deaths from COVID-19 in Italy as of Monday. This is the lowest daily figure since the lockdown took effect on March 9.

In even better news, the northern province of Piacenza reported no new deaths in 24 hours for the first time. Previously, the province lost 933 citizens due to the transmission of the corona virus.

As of Monday, there are 225,886 positive cases of COVID-19 (+451), with 66,553 of them currently active (-1,798).

A total of 127,326 people were declared recovered (+2,150) and 32,007 died.

Of the 66,553 active cases, 55,597 are in self-isolation (+1,681), 10,207 in hospital with symptoms (-104) and 749 in intensive care (-13).

There were 3,041,366 tests conducted Monday, an increase of 36,406 from the previous day.
