11 Health Workers In Garut Died Due To COVID-19

GARUT - A total of 11 health workers consisting of doctors, midwives, and nurses died due to exposure to the COVID-19 outbreak.

"Yes, because it is positive, some have comorbidities and some don't, they feel short of breath and die", said Public Relations of the Garut COVID-19 Handling Task Force, Yeni Yunita, quoted by Antara, Monday, June 21.

He said the health workers who died in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic consisted of two doctors, three nurses, two midwives, and four other health workers.

Those who died, he said, had been recorded since January 2021 until now, plus other groups such as the general public.

Therefore, it is the regional government's vigilance to continue to tighten the implementation of health protocols so that there are no more casualties.

"Today, 10 positive confirmed cases of COVID-19 have died", he said.

Garut Deputy Regent, Helmi Budiman, expressed his condolences to 11 health workers and the general public who died due to being exposed to COVID-19.

Helmi said medical personnel has an important role with a tough task because they are at the forefront of handling COVID-19 positive patients.

"They are at the forefront of providing services to patients, not even a few of whom actually become victims", he said.

Helmi hopes that the public will continue to pray that the COVID-19 outbreak will pass quickly and that health workers will be given the strength to carry out their duties to provide medical services to positive COVID-19 patients and other diseases.

"Our nurses are very limited, please pray for the people of Garut Regency so that medical personnel is always given health", he continued.

Helmi added that his party will make every effort to protect the work of medical officers in all health facilities while still providing maximum health services to the community.

Helmi also invited the public to help the burden of health workers by complying with health protocols to prevent the COVID-19 outbreak so that there would be no spike in cases of transmission of the virus.

"The government will try to take various steps to protect the work of medical workers in all health facilities, especially in health facilities that receive and serve patients exposed to COVID-19", he said.
