Anies' Instructions In The Midst Of The Jakarta COVID-19 Crisis

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan asked all residents to comply with his request at a time when positive cases in the capital city of COVID-19 continued to soar over the past few days.

Anies' series of requests include maintaining good health protocols (prokes) and making Saturday and Sunday only days at home.

"We encourage all people in Jakarta and its surroundings to stay at home on Saturday and Sunday, unless there is an urgent and basic need," said Anies at City Hall, Friday, June 18.

According to Anies, weekends are holidays for the majority of people, except for the essential sector. Therefore, these two days can be used by residents to refrain from doing activities outside the home.

"We hope that the community is equally aware that we are currently still in a pandemic condition. Therefore, reduce activities outside the home, reduce activities that have the potential to interact so that they can be exposed,"

"Essentially, obey health protocols, use masks, keep your distance, then wash your hands, in the days ahead stay at home unless there is an urgent need," said Anies.

Shortly after asking Jakarta residents to stay at home on the weekends, Anies together with Polda Metro Jaya and Kodam Jaya held a tightening ceremony for the implementation of restrictions on micro-scale community activities (PPKM).

On that occasion, Anies emphasized that he would discipline the community in implementing the program. The goal is to reduce the number of positive cases of COVID-19.

"To all the ranks present here, the Jaya Military Command, Polda Metro Jaya, we all take to the field, including the ranks of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government. Tonight we will carry out disciplinary operations without compromise," said Anies.

In this discipline, Anies continued, all activities that have the potential to cause crowds must stop at 21.00 WIB. Otherwise, the officers will take immediate action.

"All activities must stop at 9 pm. There are no exceptions and remind the public that the enforcement of this rule is not only for enforcing regulations, but reminding all that this is to protect you," said Anies.

Anies also said that this activity is to protect all people. Moreover, to avoid the increasingly massive spread of COVID-19.

In addition, he asked the public to participate in supervising the implementation of health protocols (prokes). For Anies, overcoming the spread of COVID-19 is a universal struggle

"With that, the supervision continues together, this is a universal struggle, everyone must be involved, take part and be responsible," said Anies.

Community participation in surveillance, said Anies, can be done by reporting anyone who does not implement the health procedures. That way, all those who violate will be dealt with according to the applicable rules.

"We ask the whole community, if you see a violation, report it. Use the JAKI application, report it there so we can act," he said.
