Iqbaal Ramadhan Interprets The Presence Of The Film Ali & Ratu Ratu Queens

JAKARTA - Netflix presents the latest Indonesian film titled Ali & Ratu Ratu Queens today, Thursday, June 17 local time.

Directed by Lucky Kuswandi, this film tells the story of a teenage boy named Ali (Iqbaal Ramadhan) who goes to New York to find his mother. He meets four immigrants living in Queens and embarks on an adventure with them.

Since the beginning of getting this offer, Iqbaal had a desire to act. One of them, the four main female players, namely Happy Salma, Tika Panggabean, Nirina Zubir, and Asri Welas.

"The female side shown in the film is the reason I want to play here. The four characters played by these aunties (Happy Salma, Tika Panggabean, Nirina Zubir, Asri Welas) have many layers," Iqbaal said at a press conference.

In addition, the script by Gina S. Noer was also the reason Iqbaal accepted this offer. “Described as an Indonesian mother, it seems easy but behind that there is a layer that is successfully played and shown. These women are strong, independent, fierce. And there aren't many depictions like that."

He explained, often Indonesian films shot in the United States only show the side of luxury. However, this is not seen in Ali & Ratu Ratu Queens where this film presents the real side of immigrant life in Queens.

This member of the Svmmerdose band interprets the film Ali & Ratu Ratu Queens as a film that is able to give warmth to the audience.

“Without many reasons, this film should be a cure for homesickness for the audience. Hopefully this film will convey the message and feeling that Mas Lucky wants to convey to the audience at home," said Iqbaal.

Ali & Ratu Ratu Queens movie can be watched starting today, June 17th exclusively on Netflix.
