Massive Operation, Banten Police Capture 438 People Suspected Of Thugs
SERANG - The Banten Regional Police and the police in the Banten Regional Police have arrested around 438 people suspected of being involved in thuggery during the three-day thuggery operation in Banten.
Operations are carried out day and night in locations that are allegedly prone to logging and illegal levies.
Banten Police Chief Inspector General Rudy Heriyanto Adi Nugroho said the thuggery operation was a follow-up to the Chief of Police's instructions.
Previously, the National Police Chief was ordered by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to clean up thugs and thugs in the Tanjung Priok Ocean Port area, North Jakarta and the surrounding roads that are often hit by traffic jams.
"We will immediately clean up thugs and anyone who tries to cause unrest in the Banten area," said Banten Police Chief Inspector General Rudy Heriyanto Adi Nugroho, quoted by Antara, Monday, June 14.
According to him, the results of the third day thuggery operation managed to secure a number of people, including the Serang City Police, as many as 33 people, Cilegon Police 12 people, Serang Police 24 people.
Furthermore, the Tangerang Police arrested 41 people, Pandeglang Police 8 people, and Lebak Police as many as 36 people.
Two days earlier, 284 people suspected of committing acts of thuggery from the Banten Police's jurisdiction were arrested, bringing a total of 438 people to the third day.
"The actions taken vary, ranging from data collection, submitted to the Social Service, guidance to law enforcement if someone commits a violation," said Head of Public Relations of the Banten Police, Kombes Edy Sumardi.
Edy said that the coaching action taken was in the form of collecting data and submitting it to the Social Service. However, until now there has been no violation of criminal law, so no legal action has been taken.
Edy Sumardi explained the pattern of operations carried out by prioritizing 'preventive strikes' and law enforcement for perpetrators who violated the crime.
"This thuggery operation involved 359 joint personnel, consisting of the National Police, TNI, Satpol PP, Social Service, Transportation Service, local government and the community," said Edy.
According to him, the purpose of this control operation is to provide a sense of security for the community and the realization of a conducive kamtibmas in the Banten Regional Police jurisdiction.
Edy Sumardi appealed to the public not to hesitate to report and complain if they found acts of thuggery or irregularities that were felt to be disturbing and causing public unrest.
He appealed to the public to immediately report anything that disturbs or threatens the safety of residents via the free telephone 110.
"Use any time 110, we will immediately respond by lowering the apparatus," he said.
