Drug Party Arrested At Karaoke Place With Women, North Nias Regional Secretary Still Under Investigation
MEDAN - A total of 71 people were arrested for drug-related activities at nightclubs in Medan City. One of them is the North Nias District Secretary with the initials YN (57).
Medan Police Chief Kombes Riko Sunarko said the arrests were made at around 01.00 WIB, Sunday, June 13. Initially the police received information that karaoke places were still open.
Even though the North Sumatra governor and Medan mayor ordered nightclubs to close to prevent COVID-19.
"However, the place is still operational by contacting its customers. Then the place looks closed from the front, the lights are turned off and also locked, so only certain customers can be there," said Riko, Monday, June 14.
Furthermore, said Riko, the police together with the COVID-19 Task Force, TNI, Satpol PP and other joint officers raided the karaoke place.
"It turned out that there were 71 visitors and employees. After we searched it, we found 285 pills in the form of pills which we suspect are narcotics we often call ecstasy or inex," said Riko.
Furthermore, said Riko, the 71 people who were at the karaoke place were taken to the Medan Polrestabes. After a urine test, 51 people were tested positive for drugs, including the North Nias Regional Secretary, YN.
"51 people have tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine, or positive for inex and methamphetamine. Until now, we are conducting a marathon examination," continued Riko.
According to Riko, so far the place is open from 13.00 WIB to 05.00 WIB. They opened it on the instructions of the karaoke manager with the initials RG alias Kiki.
"Currently we are inviting (summons), but there is no progress, we will convey the progress to all of you," said Riko.
In addition, said Riko from the investigation of the place, the karaoke also sells ecstasy pills. "The proceeds from the sale of ecstasy amounted to Rp. 17,200,000 million. For this ecstasy, it was sold for Rp. 300 thousand," said Riko.
Technical sales, the management asked the waiter to offer to customers. From there the waiters conveyed to the operator who stored the methamphetamine.
"The ecstasy is stored in the candy holder," said Riko
Regarding the involvement of the North Nias Secretary, YN, said Riko was arrested while in room 202. There he was with his colleagues consisting of 3 men and 3 women.
"Until now we are investigating (its involvement). The urine result is positive (drugs)," said Riko.
When he was arrested, said Riko, evidence of drugs was also secured. "There is one remaining ecstasy," said Riko.
However, regarding YN's status, Riko has not disclosed it. The inspection process is still ongoing.
"Until now, we are still investigating if there is an increase in status, we will convey it to our media partners," said Kombes Riko.
