JAKARTA - The presidential election is still far away. But there are a number of people who began to appear to introduce themselves as potential candidates. Including Giring Ganesha, the Acting Chairman of PSI who still has ambitions to become a presidential candidate in 2024.
Giring is even confident in labeling himself as a presidential candidate in 2024. He boasts that he will provide free college programs for Indonesian children if he is elected as the 8th president of the Republic of Indonesia.
“After elementary, middle, and high school were free, now is the time for free lectures. This is the time for us to build a stronger foundation to ensure the progress of this country," said Giring in a video broadcast by PSI DPP via his official Instagram account @psi_id, Monday, June 14.
"College, for many people not being able to be considered something that is not affordable and even a luxury," he continued.
According to Giring, no money is wasted when it comes to providing Indonesian children with free tuition.
“Lectures will encourage Indonesian children to develop more confidence and have the ability to pursue their dreams. Increase their motivation to improve self-quality. Strengthen profile and make our young people get a better salary or income. The more young people go to college, it means the future will be better,” said Giring.
According to Giring, studying in college will broaden knowledge about the world, add valuable new information, and broaden perspectives on what can be done.
"Investment in college is a way to push the boundaries of the world of young people so that they can move forward, think more creatively, and be innovative," said the former vocalist of the band Nidji.
"College will bring young people to better health, empower, and equip them with the ability to work," he said.
Giring believes that, in the next 10 or 20 years, Indonesian children will become professionals who can strengthen domestic companies to compete globally, and become key policy makers in government offices.
"They are the ones who will be the key to Indonesia's progress in the future. We must not waste momentum. This is the time for us to invest more energy, thought and budget to help our young people enjoy free college. This is the reason I want to offer this program. free lectures,” said Giring.
