Police Ask Experts for Information on Bigmo Case of Exploiting Children to Promote Vape

JAKARTA - Polda Metro Jaya is asking experts about the existence or non-existence of a criminal offense in the case of alleged economic exploitation of children or the involvement of children in the promotion or distribution of electronic cigarette products (vape) involving the owner of the YouTube channel with the initials MJ alias Bigmo.

"We have coordinated with parties and experts to ensure the content, to ensure that the activity falls into the classification category, there is exploitation or the role of this child can be said to be a distribution of actions regulated in the Child Protection Law," said the Director of Women's Protection and Anti-Human Trafficking (PPA PPO) of the Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Rita Wulandari Wibowodilansir ANTARA, Tuesday, August 4.

Currently, he continued, officers are investigating and there are several steps that have been taken by investigators. "There is an effort to find the children of the victims, the children who are suspected of being victims," he said.

According to him, at this time everything is still in process and later the results will be seen. "If it is indeed an element of a crime. Of course we will raise the case," said Rita.

In addition, officers will also call the owner of the YouTube channel with the initials MJ to complete and dig up information from the incident and related to the child victim's problem.

Regarding the peace efforts made by MJ with the victim's parents, he assessed that it was an effort from the person concerned.

"If the principle from us, when we find this is a criminal act, it is not a complaint offense, we will carry out further processes," he said.

Previously, the Directorate of Women and Child Protection for the Eradication of Human Trafficking (PPA PPO) of the Polda Metro Jaya was investigating allegations of economic exploitation of children or the involvement of children in the promotion or distribution of electronic cigarette (vape) products that were suspected of involving the owner of a YouTube channel with the initials MJ.

Handling the case is a follow-up to a complaint letter submitted by TP through Tri Agnibrata & Partners' lawyer on July 31, 2026.

"Investigators have taken initial steps to investigate the reported incident," said Head of Public Relations of the Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Pol Budi Hermanto in Jakarta, Tuesday.
