Sam Fender and Olivia Dean Break New Records with Rein Me In
JAKARTA - Two British musicians, Sam Fender and Olivia Dean, have officially carved a new history in the British music industry.
Their collaborative song titled "Rein Me In" was crowned the song with the longest peak position of all time on the U.K. Official Singles Chart.
The duet song was at the top position for 19 consecutive weeks. This achievement also surpassed the record held by Frankie Laine through the song "I Believe" which lasted for 18 weeks at the top position in 1953.
Since it was first released in June 2025, the journey of "Rein Me In" has been a unique chart-topping. The song took 35 weeks from when it first entered the chart to finally take the number one spot last February.
Not stopping there, "Rein Me In" also became Sam Fender's first number one song in the UK. This song made history as the only single in the history of the UK charts to be able to reclaim the top spot four times in the same period.
This success was warmly welcomed by the leaders of the two musicians' record labels. President of Polydor Label Group, where Sam Fender is based, Ben Mortimer, expressed his pride at this historic achievement.
"This is a historic achievement. Various awards continue to increase along this extraordinary journey, but surpassing the benchmark set by the great Frankie Laine more than 70 years ago is something that is almost unimaginable," Mortimer said, quoted by Variety, Monday, August 3.
"Seeing Sam and Olivia, our two local stars, break this record is something we are very proud of," he continued.
In line with Mortimer, the President of Capitol U.K. where Olivia Dean is based, Jo Charrington, emphasized the power of the chemistry of the two singers as the main key to the success of this song.
"There is something really undeniable about Sam and Olivia's performance together in this song. They created a song that people keep listening to week after week. Seeing that relationship materialize into the longest-running number one in British chart history is a monumental achievement," said Charrington.
According to official data from the Official Charts Company, the British music industry has recorded a consistent trend in listeners of the song "Rein Me In" through digital music player platforms and physical sales.
This achievement further strengthens the position of Sam Fender and Olivia Dean as the most influential top musicians in the global music scene today.
